Webster's Pages Fun

I've had SUCH a blast at the Webster's Pages 12 Days of Christmas Crop this month! The stunning project challenges from their designers were so fabulous and inspiring...I'm still working on some of the projects inspired by the crop. :)

Here are a couple crop-challenge projects I completed:

1) A Thanksgiving Tussy-Mussy, which we filled with thankful memories

2) A mini-album of my girls playing dress-up

3) A 3D miniature house that opens up for the kids to play with during the holidays

It was a fun-filled, creative, productive crop for me...thanks so much, Webster's Team! :)

Love the fun Autumn colors, the trims are AWESOME, and the new papers from Webster's and Graphic45 are SO much fun to detail-cut and play with!

Happy Halloween, everyone, and I'll soon be back with a bunch of new-office goodness to share! :)

October Art and Thrift

Ok, here comes a new monthly blog post I like to call...Art-and-Thrift. :)

Each month, I'll post a project that gets my creative juices flowing by being thrifty in some way...repurposing, recycling, using packaging, using up my ginormous stash, etc etc.

I'm REALLY loving using a more free-flowing, artsy style lately...using up whatever's around me in a creatively rewarding way. It's making me happy! :)

So, my October Art-and-Thrift debut project is this little number:

Thrift Tip #1:

I wanted to use up some OLD alpha rub-ons as an accent on this layout. At first, I was thinking of just rubbing the letters on in a collage-type way, but then I decided to keep them ON the sheet, and just cut accents out of it!

I ripped two random strips, and then cut a heart-shape. After inking the edges up a bit, they made the perfect messy transparency-type look I was going for. :)

Thrift Tip #2:

Usually I write a rough draft of my journaling on any random paper lying around, before typing it out for my layout. But this time, I just used the crumpled old notebook paper rough draft as my actual layout journaling! I casually traced over the penciled journaling with a couple glitter pens, ripped it out of the notebook, and placed it on my layout. I like the messy randomness of it, hehe, as well as the insight it gives into how my thought process goes as I create journaling.

Other thrifty accents on this layout include:

A heart stencil from a punch-out sheet in my kids' craft supplies. I ran it through the ole Sizzix with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, then misted and wet-embossed it for an antique look.

Vintage trim layering...the bias tape is from my Grandma. I sewed vintage lace from my OTHER Grandma over the top. This accent makes me smile. :)

So, there you have it, a fun, shabby, artsy, freestyle layout that was rewarding, thrifty, AND sentimental for me all at the same time! What do you have lying around your craft space to be creative and thrifty with?!

Urban Anthology October Kit Reveal

Ok, it's that time again...this month's Urban Anthology kit just screams Autumn to me...warm comfort colors, leaves, foliage, vintage lace...some great new Webster's and Hambly that I've been dying to get my hands on!

Also, this month I created matching tags AND overlays, with lots of scrumptious scrollwork, grapevines, fluttering things. :)
Grab yours while you can, there are only a couple left in stock! :)

Urban Anthology September Kit Goodness!

This month's kit at Urban Anthology has a great
primary colors/school/travel feel...I'm having so
much fun with the color palette that is out of my norm!

The kit includes Core'dinations cardstock, which is SO much fun to sand and distress!
With this layout, I wanted a messy/crafty/childlike feel. I used a package of Prima E. bling, under the cardstock, to sand the rows of dots. Another fave part of this layout for me is the Sass Monstrosity alpha paper border...LOVE that alpha paper, need more! :)

To finish off the layout, I shimmered it up with some Shimmerz paint in Pixie Dust...can't get enough of that either!

Stamping Your Title

Today I worked with a DARLING tiny alphabet stamp set from Pink Persimmon, on a layout documenting our ADDICTION to Bubble Tea! Seriously, have you tried that stuff?! I'm hooked.

I used it to stamp my title with black Stazon ink, then filled in the detail with Spica glitter pens from Copic...I love the result! :)

By the way, Pink Persimmon is doing a blog hop right now, including GIVEAWAYS, so don't forget to go check it out!

Chalking it up!

I'm REALLY trying to re-invent the way I use old supplies...to whittle down that stash and enjoy being creative in the process! Next up, CHALKS!

With this layout, I had fun bordering and detailing the lovely Karen Russell background paper with some saffron and teal chalks.

After using a brown marker to mimic the die-cut perimeter, I "q-tipped" the chalk around the edges, and added some to the image details as well. The result is, I think, warm and cozy, and adds great dimension to the overall layout!

And it made me happy to dust off those chalks and get some fresh, new use out of them. :)

Let's Get Stamping!

Here's a fun project using stamps, patterned paper, and repetition! I created this layout using stamps from Autumn Leaves and Stampin' Up, and kit paper from Urban Anthology's July and August kits. Here's how:

Any shape or icon will do, or even a cool silhouette image.
So bust out those dusty stamps, and give this a try! :)

Random Layout #47

Ok, this layout is just super random and eclectic and FUN for me...enjoyed embossing and crackle-painting and stamping the heck out of this page...used a sticker-sheet negative from Webster's and some ribbon from a Prima flower package.

It made me smile to use elegant bling, shimmer, and a creamy color scheme in an unlikely pairing with paleontology photos, hehe. Creating this was just pure artsy, messy, creative fun. :) *ETA* This layout is a featured photo at the Webster's Pages gallery, whoo hoo!

Blog Hop Winner and July Sneak Peek

What an awesome turnout for the Urban Anthology blog hop!! Sounds like most of you sing the traditional birthday song, although several of you add the "smell like a monkey" part, hehe! In my family, we sing this:

"Happy Birthday, Happy Happy Birthday!
This is your day, to have a lot of fun.
We're all waiting for the celebration!
For the celebration to begin.
Blow out the candles on the cake & make a wish...
Serve everybody's favorite dish (favorite dish, ba ba buhm)
Happy Birthday, Happy Happy Birthday!
This is your day, so Happy Birthday to YOUUUUU!"

LOL, that's just how we rock it out! :)

And now for the winner......The winner of the $5 Urban Anthology GC goes to:

Elizabeth Bailey, who wrote, who is the traditional birthday song type. :)

Elizabeth, send me an email and we'll get you hooked up with that gift certificate!

And now for a sneak peek of Urban Anthology's July Kit, "Grandma's Kitchen:

Check back later for an EXCLUSIVE sneak peek of the custom journaling tags I designed for this kit, shhhhhhh, don't tell! :)

Urban Anthology Birthday Blog Hop!

Welcome to the first ever Urban Anthology Birthday Blog Hop...thanks so much for joining in!
(Note: This is a progressive blog hop and my blog is number 1 of 8. For more rules and details, please visit the Urban Anthology Blog)

For my birthday project, I created a layout using a giant birthday hat as part of the background. I simply cut out a patterned paper hat shape, and added stitching, a ruffle, and a bow!

So, the first element to gather and create with for this blog hop is:

1. Include a giant birthday-themed shape as part of your layout background
(examples include a hat, a cupcake, a balloon, a candle)

You now have element #1 of 8...for the next element, visit Deanna Misner's blog.

When you've gathered all 8 elements, getting creating, and don't forget to post your project in the Urban Anthology gallery by Sunday at Midnight Pacific Time for a chance to win the Urban Anthology Birthday Queen grand prize!

For a chance at a $5 gift certificate to the Urban Anthology store, please leave a comment here, answering the following question:

Do you sing the traditional "Happy Birthday To You" song in your family, or do you add your own twist or sing a different song entirely?

Method Playground Glitters It Up!

Here is my glittery entry for this week's Method Playground challenge! I used large Zots to adhere white glass glitter to my flower centers, as well as some extra-fine glitter/shimmer powder to add shine to my entire page! Love me some glitz and glam. ;)

OLW Layout

Here's a layout I created for the One Little Word challenge...the word is "Two". I had fun paper-pleating and using the word TWO and number 2 in several ways on this layout about a day-in-the-life of my 2-yr-old and I. :)

Cupcake Love Affair.

Ok, here's my latest LO, inspired by a sketch I did for Urban Anthology's Design Star Contest...
This layout is ALL about little "M" and how much she loves loves loves cupcakes! I really enjoyed working with some new Bella Blvd (the little cupcakes) and Pink Paislee (the woodgrain background) on this layout, as well as some FABULOUS orange trim from a previous UA kit, and Prima Storybook pebbles (coming up in April's kit!)
